Spring is finally here, and May is the perfect time to get outside and get your garden growing… with some native species!
Native species, or plants that occur naturally within their environment, are extremely important in creating biodiversity and supporting pollinators and animals. Unfortunately, not many places, including our town, have enough of them. Many of the homes you see in Winchester have carefully manicured lawns and gardens with non-native species. But now is the moment to step in and help the environment—and beautify your garden at the same time! Just planting a couple of native plants can still make a difference. Check out these great books on topics like meadow gardening, native species, and pollinators to learn more.
