Our Collection

The Library has a large collection of large print books, DVDs with closed captioning and audiobooks that are available in a variety of formats, including CD, Playaway and as a downloadable.

You can access ebooks and downloadable audiobooks through OverDrive. Their website is compatible with screen readers like NVDA or JAWS. If you’re using a Mac, you may want to try VoiceOver. OverDrive’s app, Libby, comes with a variety of accessibility features, and is compatible with screen readers as well.

You can also adjust the font size, enable a font option that’s designed to make text easier to read for dyslexic users, or enable a high contrast option for visually impaired users. Explore OverDrive Help to learn more.

Desktop Magnifiers

A full-color Topaz digital video magnifier is available in the Reference Room. A gift of Winchester Rotary, the Topaz is an easy to use, true color magnifier that can greatly enlarge print or photographs. The Topaz offers 30 high contrast color modes for those with macular degeneration or other vision impairments.

Portable Magnifiers

Two portable electronic magnifiers, Maggies, are available to borrow.  Maggies have 5″ hi-contrast LCD screens with true color. For those with macular degeneration, the Maggie mode button provides white text on a black background for reduced glare. Patrons can borrow a magnifier at the Circulation Desk or reserve them online.
