It can’t be denied that love stories are a big part of young adult literature, but there’s more to life than romance. Sometimes you need something different. Something adventurous, or scary, or something realistic that focuses on parts of life that don’t involve broken hearts or happily-ever-afters. These stories have either no romance, or just a very small romantic subplot, and they cover a variety of genres from historical fiction to sci-fi. Who needs romance, anyway?
