Foster Care Awareness Month

| |

May is the month when we take time to acknowledge foster parents, family members, volunteers, mentors, policymakers, child welfare professionals, and other members of the community who help children and youth in foster care find permanent homes and connections. This is a year round effort by our community of caregivers. The books on this list depict heroes and villains, systemic challenges, and stories of hope about the foster care system. These are not easy reads, but you will be more aware of the challenges facing the foster parents and foster children in our community. The books on this list are available in a variety of formats. You can also watch these movies: Foster Boy, Instant Family, or Hunt for Wilderpeople and visually experience the many issues facing children in foster care.
