Contactless Pickup

What is it?

You can now request library materials for contactless pickup. Library staff will be wearing masks when they prepare your bags as well as when they place it outside for you to pickup.

This now includes select museum passes for attractions that have reopened.

The personal protective equipment and bags have been generously supplied by the Friends of the Winchester Public Library.

If coming to the library poses a risk to you, you may be eligible for home delivery.

How does it work?

Step 1: Put items on hold using your Minuteman Account

Step 2: Wait for an email or phone call that your items are ready to be picked up.

Frequently Asked Questions

I just requested a book. Can I come to the library?

You may only pick up AFTER receiving a notice from the Library that your items are ready.

How long will it take to get my item?

This depends on where the item is. Items we own that are on our shelves (marked “Available” in the catalog) should be ready in a day or two.

Delivery between libraries has restarted, but is not at normal speed so you might expect to wait upwards of two weeks for a book that is available from another library.

Please wait for the email or phone call from us to let you know we have your item ready.

I got an email so can I come by at anytime?

Pickup hours are Monday through Friday from 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM. Schedule your contactless pickup online.

How does pickup work?

Come to the parking lot entrance of the library and look for the bag with your name on the cart.

Bags are put out for your pickup time, but are left out all day in case you are delayed.

What if I can’t find my bag?

We have a doorbell to the left side of the parking lot doors. Ring the bell for service and stand behind the marked cones. A staff member will ask your name and retrieve your items. Your bag will be placed on a cart outside the door and when the staff member is back inside the building you can come forward and pickup it up.

We do ask that you wear a mask even though you are not coming into the building as other people may be near.

When will my items be due?

There will be a due date on your receipt, but we are not charging any late fees through December.

Return items to the book drops when you can.

Can I come into the library to browse or use a computer?

For health and safety reasons, we are not able to welcome patrons into the building at this time.

I have books to return. Can someone take them for me?

All returns should go in our book drops which remain open 24/7.

We are emptying them on a regular basis and there are no late fees at this time.

I returned books yesterday, but they are still on my library card. Why?

Everything returned is being quarantined for 96 hours before staff process them. Please be patient with us. Returns should be off your card in 7-10 days. Please let us know if you still see a returned book on your card after that time has passed.

Late fees are waived through December so the extra time will not result in a fine.
