The Library has many resources for English language learners. We can also help you to connect with tutors, clubs, classes, and conversation groups in the Winchester community. If you need any help with library or community resources, please contact the Reference Desk at (781) 721-7171 x320.

Library Resources for English Language Learners

mangoMango Languages offers online language instruction from home or in the Library. Mango features ESL instruction designed for speakers of over a dozen different languages.

  • Dictionaries, workbooks, newspapers, CDs, and other items for English language learners are located in the Reference Room. Most items can be checked out and taken home.

English at Large

English At Large is a free service that matches students who are learning English with local tutors. English At Large also sponsors Conversation Groups in Winchester and other communities for intermediate or advanced English speakers. The groups meet during the fall, winter, and spring.

ONE Winchester, MANY Traditions

One Winchester, Many Traditions is a project to welcome the town’s residents from other countries and to celebrate the varied cultural heritages of all of Winchester’s residents. Made possible by the generosity of the John and Mary Murphy Educational Foundation, One Winchester, Many Traditions is produced by the Winchester Public Library in conjunction with the Multicultural Network. See upcoming events.
