Who are the Friends of the Winchester Public Library?
Anyone who makes a donation to the Friends of the Winchester Public Library through Be a Friend is a Friend. The volunteer Board (pictured below) works to support the Library’s quality of service by providing financial support in a variety of ways.
Why donate to the Friends of the Library?
Your donation has a direct impact on the continued excellence of the Winchester Public Library. And 100% of the money donated is used to support the Library.
Your donation provides funding for:
RESOURCES AND MATERIALS
- "Language Keys" – home learning language programs on jump drives
- Heritage Quest Online – a genealogy database
- Fax Machine – in the Reference Room for use by patrons (coming soon)
- Express Books - current bestsellers available immediately
- Speaking Volumes - the town-wide Library newsletter (read the latest edition)
- New Video Game Collection - for adults and children (Wii and PS2)
- Many museum passes
MUSEUM PASSES
The Friends of the Winchester Public Library, with the generous support of the Rotary Club and the Enka Society, provide passes to the most popular area museums. You can view a list of the museums and to reserve a pass online.
CHILDREN'S AND TEENS' PROGRAMS AND SUPPLIES

The Friends of the Winchester Public Library provides funding for numerous programs and activities throughout the year, including the popular Summer Reading Program. Learn about current teen events and children's programs.
We also provide funding for the purchase of program supplies and the replacement of toys for the Childrens Room.
The Princess and the Frog, a quilt created by Jeanne Fiorentini, commissioned by the Friends of the Library.
ADULT LECTURE SERIES
Through the generous support of the John and Mary Educational Foundation, the Friends of the Winchester Public Library continue to offer a number of interesting lectures which are free and open to the public. Current program and event information.
