The Library offers Rosetta Stone Software Levels 1, 2, and 3 in the Quiet Study Rooms upstairs at the Library. The two Quiet Study Rooms on the upper floor of the Library have some very helpful computer programs. They are: Microsoft Office (Word 2003, Excel 2003, PowerPoint 2003) Rosetta Stone (English language-learning software) - Levels 1, 2, 3 Tutorials for Office XP training and Office 2003 training Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing There is no Internet access on these computers. The computers with Internet access are located in the Reference Room. You may reserve one of the Quiet Study Rooms for two times each week and for two hours each time. Please ask for additional information in the Reference Department when you visit the Library. Or, you may call the Reference Department librarians at 781-721-7171 x20.

Library books and movies

Brochure for Non-English Speakers. The Minuteman Library Network, to which the Winchester Public Library belongs, has a brochure written in Spanish, Russian, Chinese, Portuguese, and English that explains library services and lists libraries in the Network that have collections in these languages.Ask for a copy at the Circulation Desk or the Reference Desk.

The Winchester Public Library has a special collection of books and other materials for people who are learning English. These materials are shelved in the Reference Room.

And, the Library also has Subtitled Films Labeled by Languages. The languages go from Albanian to Welsh. Included are films in French, Hindi, Italian, Mandarin, Russian, and many other languages. All the videocassettes and DVDs are subtitled in English. Many of the DVDs have alternate language soundtracks.
