Online Resources for Homework and Research
The library has a large collection of online resources that give you access to reliable sources for school papers and projects. All resources are accessible in the library and most are accessible from home with your library card. Here are some good places to start:
- General Topics – These resources contain books and articles on almost every topic. If you’re not sure where to start, try General OneFile or Credo Reference.
- History and Social Sciences – Great for U.S. and World history, biography, geography, and cultural studies. You can also find maps, pictures, videos. These databases are particularly helpful for finding primary source documents such as speeches and letters.
- Newspapers and Magazines – Find articles on current events from all the major news publications including the Boston Globe and the New York Times. You can find newspaper articles from the 1850s or even from yesterday.
- Science and Nature– Covers all science topics, environmental studies, biology, plants, animals, and more.
