What is R.O.A.R.?
Funded by the Winchester Co-operative Bank and coordinated by the Winchester Public Library, the Rush Out and Read (R.O.A.R.) program began in 1993 as an outreach program to encourage recreational reading. For eight weeks each summer, a dedicated group of middle and high school student volunteers read aloud to groups of children throughout the community
How can I apply to the R.O.A.R. Corps?
We will be accepting applications around mid-April 2019. Any Winchester resident who will be going into 7th grade or higher is eligible. Volunteers need to commit to 2 of the 8 weeks of the program and they do not have to be consecutive weeks. The schedule is Monday - Thursday either 9 am - 12pm or 1 pm - 4 pm. Both shifts include Saturday from 9 am -11 am on the Common, during the Farmer's Market. Rush Out and Read t-shirts are required and will be provided.
