How can my child get a library card?

How do I know what programs you have for my child?
What technology is available for my child to use while at the library?
I’m a teacher and am looking for more resources to use with my students, where should I look?
Children must be four years old or older to get a library card. They must come to the library with a parent or guardian, and the adult needs to bring a valid ID and proof of their current address. Please visit our policies page for more details about what documents you can use to get a library card.
Children must be at least nine years old to be at the library or in the Children’s Room without an adult. Children age eight and under must be supervised by someone who is at least fourteen years old.
We ask that parents and caregivers remain within “hugging distance” of children who are eight years old and under, meaning close enough to give them a hug at any moment. Adults should remain within eyesight of young children. The library is more fun for your child when you’re interacting with them!
Even if your child is nine or older, please remember that library staff are not responsible for the care of your child. Additionally, the library is a public space and open to all. You know your child best, and you know if they are responsible enough to care for themselves in a public place.
Make sure that your child always knows how to get a hold of you if necessary, and be sure to pick your child up at least 5 minutes before the library closes.
We’re sorry, but food is not permitted anywhere in the library. Water is the only beverage permitted in the Children’s Room, and must be in a container with a lid. If you have snacks or other beverages, we can hold onto them at the Children’s Circulation Desk for you until you leave.
You can find out about all of our programs on our calendar. On the calendar you can view the date and time of each program, along with where it will occur in the library. If you click on the program’s title, you can view a more detailed description, including the ages for which the program is geared.
Most of our programs do not require registration. However, for programs with limited space or materials, we do ask that you register in advance. Programs that require registration will have an icon of a hand on the calendar, which will take you to a registration form when you click on it. Registration usually begins three weeks before a program is scheduled to take place.
We have chromebooks available for in-library use, a child needs a library card to be able to check one out.
We suggest one of two things, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule a time to come in and we can walk you through all the options or fill out a teacher request form that is automatically submitted to us and we can pull materials for you.
