Today we held our first ever LEGOPALOOZA event! LEGOPALOOZA is a drop in event where kids ages 5-12 are welcome to come in from 10:30-12pm and build their own LEGO creation! LEGOPALOOZA will be held once a month on the third Saturday of the month, we hope to see you there next time!

Check out some of the cool LEGO structures the kids built...

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Crafts!

Yesterday the kids got creative with some everyday, recyclable materials! Paper plates turned into rainbows, paper towel tubes turned into periscopes and popsicle sticks turned into puppets!

Historical Swords

Last week we had historical sword experts Jeff Goodhind and Jeff Lord here at the library for a presentation and a demonstration of swords through the ages! We learned sword-fighting techniques and about the differences between various swords. It was pretty cool!!

iRobot at the Library!

Today we have a visit from Steve, an engineer for iRobot! He shared information about what it's like to work for the company, what mechanical engineers do for a company like iRobot and some of what iRobot builds. He also showed us two robots, Roomba a vacuum robot and Packbot a modular, adaptable and expandable robot that can perform surveillance, reconnaissance, detection and HazMat handling operations. The kids loved all the different capabilities of the Packbot, especially the camera and video options!

Thank you to iRobot for a great program!!

Liz Buchanan Returns

Liz Buchanan brought her always welcome high-energy performance to Winchester this week. Even the most shy children were singing and dancing and generally bouncing around.

You can check out her CDs from the library, of course, or at her website http://www.antelopedance.com/.

Mad Science Crafts!

On Thursday we hosted an awesome, exciting and inventive craft program! The kids had a great time making robot necklaces, mad scientist goggles and much, much more!
