Just because school’s out, it doesn’t mean we have to take a break from all the awesome science, technology, engineering, art, and math programs we do here at the library! In fact, we’ve got a ton of awesome STEAM-related programs planned for these scorching hot months!
Lego WeDo Drop-In
Wednesdays, July 12 and August 9, 3:00-5:00pm
Kids who have already attended a Lego WeDo Robotics Workshop during the 2016-2017 school year can use the equipment to create whatever their imaginations come up with! Ages 7 and up. Registration is required and is open now.
Wednesday, July 19, 3:30pm
Creature Teachers will bring live animals to the library! Kids will find out about the animals and their habitats, so they’ll get some fun exposure to biology, ecology, and zoology! Ages 4 and up. No need to register.
Wednesday, July 26, 3:30pm
Kids will learn a little about engineering, then use cardboard to construct towers and bridges. Then we’ll test the strength and durability of their creations against wind and heavy weight! Ages 6 and up. Registration is required and starts Wednesday, July 5.
Lost at Sea with Sciencetellers
Thursday, July 27, 3:30pm
Real scientists will visit and teach kids about the science of clouds, combustion, air pressure and more with a pirate-themed twist! Ages 5 and up. No need to register.
Saturdays, July 29 and August 19, 10:30am
A local carpenter named Rob Leduc will teach kids how to build wooden items using real tools like hammers and nails. For ages 6 and up. Registration is required and begins 3 weeks prior to the program date.
Thursday, August 3, 4:30pm
We’ll learn all about electronics by taking them apart! For ages 7 and up with a grown-up. Registration is required and starts Thursday, July 13.
You can register through our online calendar, or by calling us at 781-721-7171 ext. 326. And as always, we’ve got tons of great books, movies, and other materials about STEAM topics to keep you stocked up all summer long!
